About

Amir Aghasi is a distinguished painter whose work profoundly connects humanity and the Earth by using dirt as a foundational element. He holds a BA in Painting from Tehran University of Art, where he honed his skills and developed his unique artistic vision. Amir’s paintings convey a multi-layered message that resonates with various themes and interpretations, inviting viewers to explore the transient nature of life, growth, decay, and our bond with the natural world.

Amir has exhibited his work extensively, both in solo and group exhibitions. His solo exhibitions include shows at Mah Gallery (2009), Baran Gallery (2006), Haft Samar Gallery (2001), and Zarabi Gallery (1997) in Tehran. His group exhibitions span prestigious venues such as the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts, Mohsen Gallery, and the Iranian Painters Association. Notably, his participation in the 4th Painting Biennial at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts in 1994 marked an important milestone in his career.

Amir's recent exhibition at Sherry Interior Design Gallery in North Vancouver, BC, in 2023, continues his tradition of exploring the intersection of material, memory, and heritage through his practice. His art pays homage to ancestral ties and collective memories embedded in the soil, emphasizing the significance of land as a repository of stories.

By integrating dirt into his paintings, Amir establishes a tangible link to the natural world, reminding viewers of our connection to the environment. Dirt's transient nature symbolizes life's impermanence and the cyclicality of growth and decay, while also inviting contemplation on the passage of time and the ephemeral nature of the human experience.

Through the fusion of dirt and paint, Amir's artworks embrace the interconnectedness of humanity and nature. They stand as visual testaments to our shared heritage, the fleeting essence of existence, and the transformative power of art.
